Montgomery Living's

BRIDES of 2004

MEREDITH MAYES TO MORGAN MANN
Meredith Anne Mayes and Phillip Morgan Mann were married on March 27 at five o’clock in the afternoon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Montgomery. Reverend Ronald Stoker officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Major General and Mrs. Marvin Scott Mayes of Montgomery and the granddaughter of Mrs. James William Haney and the late Mr. Haney of Albertville and of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robert Thompson and the late J. D. Howard Mayes of Birmingham. Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. James Eldon Wilson of Montgomery.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward McNeillie of Columbiana and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Royce Mann of Tuscaloosa, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Augustus Walker of Birmingham and of the late Mrs. Lola Evans Mann of Guntersville and the late Mr. Woodrow Wilson Mann of Nauvoo.

The bride wore a lovely strapless couture gown fashioned from Alencon lace and crystals. Her fingertip illusion veil fell gracefully from a baby’s breath ring headpiece. She carried hand-tied roses and stephanotis and wore antique-style diamond drop earrings, a wedding gift from the groom.

Bonnie Lee Mayes served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Mann McCollum, sister of the groom, Jill Granberry Gregory, Ann Albrecht Shonk, Miriam Headley Scharf, Amanda Forrest Fulford and Kristin Holman Taylor. They wore dramatic black satin strapless gowns and carried hand-tied pink rose bouquets. Charles Mann, brother of the groom, and David Smith were best men. Groomsmen were Michael McCollum, John Denman, III, Richard Dorn, Jr., Shane Hill, Michael Moss and Richard Tillery.

Dr. Eric Lamar Motley of Washington, D.C. was lay reader. Beautiful nuptial music was presented by Jayme Cowen, soloist, Jackie Chambliss, organist, Tom Garrett, trumpeter and Rosewood Strings.

The wedding party traveled by trolley to the reception at The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. The Syndicate Band entertained. The parents of the groom hosted Friday night’s rehearsal dinner at Marengo Plantation in Lowndesboro.

After honeymooning in Martinique, the couple is residing in Greenville, Ala.
