Montgomery Living's

BRIDES of 2004

REBECCA GLOVER TO RICHARD SCOTT
On Oct. 30, Rebecca Leigh Glover and Richard Zachry Scott were united in holy matrimony in a five o’clock ceremony at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. The happy couple met while working and studying in East Asia so they incorporated subtle touches of the Orient into their wedding. Before Dr. Rick Marshall, who officiated at the ceremony, pronounced the magic words, Richard serenaded Rebecca by playing the guitar and singing a song he had composed entitled, “Rebecca.” Guests celebrated by waving ribbon-tied chopsticks during the recessional.

Rebecca is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Martin Glover of Montgomery. The groom’s parents are Gail Sanders of West Point, Ga. and William Scott, III of Lanett, Ala.

Monica Glover of Wetumpka served as Rebecca’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Martha Scott of Lanett, Ala.; Mindy Abercrombie of Marietta, Ga.; Courtney Ficken of Auburn; and Brittny Hemphill, Bradley Rhoades, Amy Stapler and Brooke Williams, all of Birmingham. The flowergirl was the bride’s niece, Gracen Glover of Wetumpka.

The groom’s father as well as the groom’s brother, John Scott, assisted Richard as best men. Groomsmen were Bradley Glover of Wetumpka; Forrest Glover of Montgomery; Matt Abercrombie of Marietta, Ga.; Bill Boldt and Brent Gladden both of Auburn; and Brett Hazelrigs of Fayetteville, Ark.

For the reception, Jill Sampson (Weddings by Jill) decorated the Embassy Suites Ballroom with four 17-foot white trees, draped with white paper lanterns and table runners and banners of white silk brought from East Asia by Rebecca. The bride’s cake was decorated with Chinese characters signifying “double happiness.”C.
